Fédération Internationale des Patrouilles de Ski is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Avalanche Special Interest Group Coordinator, Fanny Bourjaillat, France. Fanny kindly writes an open letter to FIPS members to introduce herself.
To all FIPS members,
I was recently introduced as your new ‘’Avalanche SIG’’ manager… This post is here to present myself in a few words, for you to know who I am and what I’m currently doing in the interesting and exciting snow and avalanche fields.
I’m a French Snow Avalanche Consultant based in the Alps, associate of the Engineerisk Company for 7 years. Engineerisk is specialized in avalanche engineering, from the avalanche hazard evaluation, risk zoning and mainly to the definition and design of adapted mitigation measures. Within this activity and in addition to the analysis of passive or active protection, I am specifically in charge of relations with ski resorts to help ski patrollers to choose the best solution, systems and optimize their avalanche control plan.
I work of course in France but also for the development projects of new areas in Kazakhstan, Russia (Olympics 2014), Azerbaijan, Georgia… and to protect roads in Colorado.
I obtained the certificate to use explosive 3 years ago and I was nominated ‘’Avalanche Diva’’ during the last ISSW2016 conference in Breckenridge.
I’m still quite young but really motivated to animate and make alive at best the avalanche SIG. I’ll need for sure, your help, your comments, your video/photo, testimonies… Whatever that could be shared with the whole avalanche community and could help…
At your full disposal
Fanny Bourjaillat
